Western Sydney University partners with Nintex to deliver real-world learning experiences

BELLEVUE, Wash., October 30, 2024 – Nintex, the global leader in process management and automation, today announced that it has partnered with Western Sydney University to provide students with hands-on, real-world learning experiences focused on process improvement and digital transformation.

As part of the initiative, students from the School of Computer, Data, and Mathematical Sciences were engaged in real-world projects, using Nintex Process Manager to improve business processes within the university. This hands-on approach helped bridge the gap between classroom theory and the practical skills graduates need when entering the workforce.

“This project gave us an opportunity to develop an ecosystem which brings together academia, industry, government, and the community. Via the ecosystem engagements, students can learn, research, innovate, and solve real business problems,” said Associate Professor Ana Hol, Associate Dean International, School of Computer, Data and Mathematical Sciences at Western Sydney University.

“At the heart of everything we do is the student experience. It was so valuable hearing directly from students about things that could be improved, reminding us of the value of the work we do,” said Jess Gleeson, Director of Data Integrity, Quality and Operations at Western Sydney University.

The initiative follows a unique three-way model in which students act as consultants, Nintex provides the technology through an extension of the University’s existing licensing arrangement, and the university’s Student Administration team serves as the client. Each student group was assigned a project based on a real-life scenario related to process improvement at the university. They then presented their findings as part of their final assessment.

“Digital transformation is more than just automating processes—it’s about enhancing the human experience,” said Keith Payne, VP, APAC at Nintex. “Through this partnership, we’re helping students to drive real change within the university while shaping their own careers in the process.”

In addition to this project, Western Sydney University has leveraged the Nintex Process Platform since 2020 to improve end-to-end processes within the organisation. The success of this implementation was the inspiration for a collaboration at the curriculum level which enabled students to learn about the industry requirements and as a part of this utilise Nintex Process Manager to map the processes.
